Corpus callosum, мозолистое тело, маленький мостик, который соединяет правое и левое полушарие головного мозга. Его исследовали эволюционные психологи Кристина Де — Лакост-Утамсинг и Ральф Л. Холлоуэя (журнал «Сайенс»,1982 г.), а вовсе не Татьяна Черниговская.

Ученые объявили, что 200 миллионов волокон в задней части мозолистого тела у женщин толще, чем у мужчин. Мозолистое тело не только по форме напоминает телефонную трубку, но сходно с нею и по функции. С помощью мозолистого тела правое и левое полушарие обмениваются между собою информацией, а главное – договариваются между собою. У женщин общение происходит быстрее и качественнее. Поэтому чувства и мысли согласуются лучше, как следствие — женщине проще выразить словами свои переживание, создать «Я-сообщение», поэтому эмоциональный интеллект (эмпатия, умение ставить себя на место другого человека, сопереживание) у женщин более развит. Именно по этой причине женщина способна одновременно выполнять несколько задач, так как импульсы в мозолистом теле ее головного мозга проводятся быстрее. Но не все так плохо для мужчин. Мужской гормон тестостерон отклоняет развитие мозга от «женской» нормы. Если плод в чреве получает повышенную долю этого гормона, то дело может дойти до токсического эффекта и заболевания – аутизма. Аутисты – это люди, слабо или совсем не воспринимающие чувства других, это люди, живущие в своем «собственном мире». Нормальный мужчина – это промежуточный вариант между женщиной и аутистом. Так, по крайней мере, считает британский эксперт по аутизму, профессор психологии Саймон Барон-Коэн (его книга «Разные с первого дня»). Тестостерон и здоровая порция аутизма делают мозг мужчины более склонным и способным к системному мышлению (S-мозг). А мозг женщины (E-мозг) способен к сочувствию.

Разница заметна уже у маленьких детей. Годовалые девочки охотно и подолгу вглядываются в настоящие, живые лица, мальчики же предпочитают колышущиеся фрагментарные изображения лица.
